Z and I were quite the travelers this past week! We just returned from Iowa on Monday and then turned around, packed bags once again, and drove up to Z’s parents’ in Pennsylvania Thursday evening. My Mom drove down from New York and we all rendezvoused at the West Ridge Guest House Bed & Breakfast.

Friday morning after coffee and breakfast, we ventured out for a driving tour of Lancaster and Amish country.

Our first stop was Fisher’s Harness Shop. 016

Your go-to place for horse and buggy supplies. They also sold various odds and ends. One that caught my eye:

Products like that you just don’t see everyday!

We continued on our tour which included the Red Caboose Motel. Each of the cars is its own separate room! I browsed the website when I got back and the accommodations are pretty cool. Such a unique idea for a motel!

There are lots of railroad-based activities in the area including the National Railroad Museum AND the National Toy Train Museum. Who knew?

No visit from my mom would be complete without a stop for a geocache, which was just off the parking lot of one of the museums.

Once the cache was found we headed to an Amish craft and furniture store.

Testing out the merchandise….

While we girls perused the homemade candles, placemats, dining tables and more, Z occupied himself in another way:

In his defense that was the most comfortable chair ever so I can’t say I blame him.

Our last stop was The Green Dragon. Yes it sounds like a dojo or superhero but it is neither. Instead it’s a market similar to the one we had gone to in Elizabethtown: part farmer’s market, part flea market.

PicMonkey Collage- market

We picked up some produce including watermelon, cucumbers and cherries. The apples were only 99 cents a pound (at Safeway they’re around $2) so we made sure to stock up.

After the market we called it a day and headed back to the B&B for some reading and relaxation by the pool followed by a kabobs on the grill.

(Z and his “man-bob.”)

Overall a fun day. Bedtime was an early one because of our race in the morning. More on that to come….

P.S. Larry says hi.
